How to Prepare for the Exams

Students should have a proper plan for getting good marks. Some students start learning lessons from the middle of the year, some just before the exams. So, the results also like that.

For example, you are playing one day cricket match with your friends. Let us assume that your team target is 235 runs to win, in 50 overs. If you neglect first 25 overs to get good score, you have to take strain in remaining 25 overs. Run rate shall be high. Normally, you feel tension. In that tension you may lose wickets, even doubt your win. All this is because of your negligence in the first half. Similarly, in education also if you neglect beginning months of the course, you have to face the negative consequences during the exams.


Key Sheet Method for Essay Questions

To learn long answers key sheet method is useful. Follow the steps given below and prepare key sheet for all the essays.

1.     Write definition

2.     Write side headings

3.     Against each side head note important words, in such away by using them you can write full text

4.     Practice figures and tables

During the exam days you can quickly cover the syllabus using this key sheet.

Short answers also can be learnt with these long answers, as they are part of it.

Interesting subjects

Some Students like only some subjects. It may be due to

  Easy to learn

  Opinion formed at lower classes

  Good teaching
  Positive opinion about the subject teacher

  Genes

Tough subjects

Some students dislike some subjects, the reasons may be

  Feel tough to learn

You may like a particular subject or not remember each subject is important to score good marks. If you spend more time for liking subjects and less time for disliking and tough subjects, your total score will be less.

So, spend more time for disliking and tough subjects and revise for more times.
Throughout the year

  Listen to the lessons with concentration

  Understand the lessons

  Clear the doubts from the teachers

  Read the lesson, on the same day the teacher taught

  Write the class notes

  Practice figures and tables

Before one month from exams

  Divide time for all the subjects

  Stick on to the schedule

  Allot more time for tough and disliking subjects

  Take sufficient sleep

  Take care of food

  Do not drink or eat cool foods

Before two days from exams

  Prepare only for the first exam
  Read only already prepared lessons

  Do not try to learn new material or lessons

  Take sufficient sleep

  Understand that only the preparation is in your hands, not the result

  Keep happy mood

On the day of exam

  Stop preparation at least one hour before the exam

  Get ready with essentials ( hall ticket, pen, pencil, eraser etc.,)

  Do not discuss about the subject with friends

  Go to the exam hall at least half an hour before

  Check your pockets, if any subject material present. Squads may debar from the exam

In the Exam Hall

  Close your eyes and sit silently for 5 to 10 min.

  Write the hall ticket number clearly (if barcode system not necessary).

  Listen carefully to the invigilator’s suggestions.

  Do not write on the question paper or writing pad.

  Read the question paper carefully.

  If the question paper is tough do not feel tension, understand that it is tough for others also.
  Write the first page slowly and neatly.

  Use last page for rough work.

  At the end check the question numbers and read the answers, if time permit.

After the exam

  Do not discuss about the exam performance.

  Take food and rest for some time.

  Start preparation for second exam.

After completion of all the exams

  Feel that I have done my duty, result is not in my hands
After the announcement of results

  Based on the result take a positive decision about future

  If fail, understand that the education is a part of life only. There are many ways to lead good life. Again there is a chance to write exams and to get good result

  Recall biographies of life winners

  Wise students fight for good future, only fools take negative decisions/commit suicide

Extracurricular essential

For getting good marks every student shall play games daily for half-an-hour to one hour. In addition to this, choose at least one extracurricular activity like singing, dancing, drawing, etc. All these promote physical and mental health.
